Greetings American Union Community!

Welcome to what promises to be another fantastic school year at American Union!  I am super excited to start another year together at AU, and am certain it will be filled with even more amazing opportunities for all of our students as we all continue to strive to Be our BEST!  As we begin this new year, I am committed to ensuring a year of engaging, meaningful and rigorous work in our classrooms, along with some fun and special times through a plethora of extracurricular clubs and activities, leadership, and athletic opportunities for all our AU Eagles.

As with each school year, I want to welcome all our new American Union families, as well as our new staff members!  I am pleased to announce that Jan Stansberry will the Learning Director for American Union. Many of you may know Mr. Stansberry as a teacher, coach, or Athletic Director.  He will be a great asset to our campus in this role. In addition, Mrs. Olson has retired. We will miss her fierce dedication and commitment to early literacy. AU would like to thank her for her years of service.  Lastly, Mrs. Wheatley has taken a position in Lemoore so she can be close to her family. With these considerations, please join me in welcoming the following individuals to our amazing AU staff:

  • Danielle Garrison, Second Grade Teacher
  • Monica Sepulveda, Fifth Grade Teacher
  • Tiffany Jordan, K-8 PE Teacher

This year we will add additional extracurricular opportunities to our campus, as we continue to improve the educational experience of every student.  I am thrilled to announce that there will be a Drama Club, that intends to put on two school productions: Lion King and Peter Pan. All 4-8th Grade students will be encouraged to participate in our Drama Club.  In addition, we are hopeful to add dance to our after-school program. This past year we started our Honor Block AU which is intended to push our students to academic excellence, as well as increase their involvement in athletics, community service, and campus activities.  I am hopeful to have more students participate and receive this prestigious award. We are committed to build well-rounded students at American Union!

Last school year we kicked off “Dude. Be Nice” as a platform to inspire students to build a positive school community focused on kindness and compassion.  This year, Dude.Be Nice will be enhanced with “Rachel’s Challenge,” a program intended to build empathy and unity. There will be a community event where parents will be invited to learn about our school challenge.  At AU, being kind is cool!

We look forward to another positive and productive year together!  I hope to see you all at Back to School on August 13, 2018 at 5:30 PM. Enjoy the rest of your summer making family memories, and don’t forget to visit our lending library!
